"I Love New York" Photo Gallery at Burns Court Cafe

Burns Court Cafe Art Gallery presents Russian photographer Aleksandr (Sasha) Gleyzera's timeless New York sepia photographs in "I Love New York," open until the second week in June at 401 South Pineapple Ave. in Burns Court. This show highlights 12 of Gleyzera's most popular works, including: "Radio City Music Hall"; "Central Park, Poets Walk"; "Jazz in Central Park"; "Sunset at Battery Park"; "Brooklyn Bridge" and others. Designing Daughters Fashionable Gala: Sail Into Summer

Event date: 05/17/2012

The second annual Fashionable Gala will be held by the Designing Daughters at the Sarasota Yacht Club, 7-10 p.m. on May 17. This year’s guests can expect a silent auction and superlative-style fashion awards for the best dressed and accessorized attendees. Prizes and auction packages will feature the best of the best products and services from local vendors. Food and drinks will be an elegant tropical array of hors d'oeuvres provided by the Sarasota Yacht Club that will be ‘poshly’ paired with specialty drinks. Tickets for the event are available for purchase at Designing Women Boutique (located at 1226 N. Tamiami Trail at 13th St.) and at T. Georgiano's on 1st Street, downtown, for $85. Tickets will also be available at the door for $95.

Sarasota Concert Band's "Honoring Heroes" Memorial Day Concert"

Event date: 05/28/2012

Sarasota Concert Band announces the annual Memorial Day outdoor concert, musical tribute to the men and women who have given their lives for our country, 3 p.m. on May 28 at Phillippi Estate Park. $5 per person. The fun, patriotic performance will include "Shenandoah," "Victory at Sea," "Light Calvary" and an audience sing-a-long. Bring lawn chairs and hats; food and drink vendors will be on site.
